ROAD RUNNING NEWSLETTER – SEPTEMBER 2016

Exciting times…

With the cold weather almost something of the past, we can look forward to getting back to “normality” in our training. The past few months have been particularly challenging. Whether you are training for a marathon, keeping fit or running to control your weight, NOW IS THE TIME TO GET STUCK IN!! Choose your runs carefully and work hard at achieving your goals. Best wishes for month ahead… May you achieve everything you wish to for this month and the months ahead!

Looking back to August?

Our race of the month was the Pick ‘n Pay 21km in Brackenfell. It was a chilly start to the day, but our CMC members came out in typical CMC style. After running a new, very challenging route in heavy mist, we were welcomed by our super hosts in LISA SMIT and RUTH MASUREIK, who had prepared warm coffee and sterri stumpies for us at the end.

Lisa and Ruth

Many thanks LISA and RUTH for hosting us!!

 Dominique Fuchs

Dominique Fuchs (third from the right) has been chosen to represent Western Province at the South African Championships in George on the 10 September 2016. We are extremely proud of her and wish her everything of the best for the 10th September. Our best wishes accompany her!

A bit of September…

What a day it was… Cape Multisport Club was involved in the planning and organizing of this very special event at the Jan Kriel school in Kuilsriver. Many of our members generously offered up their time to do duty as Marshals and Registration officials at this event. Needless to say… IT WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!

A truly inspirational story from one of our members… Danie Bruwer

MY LEWE IN DIE HARDLOOP KRINGE

Ek was baie gelukkig toe ek die Two Oceans Haf Marathon kon klaar maak in 1uur 59min.

2010 – So het die nuwe jaar aangebreek en my doel was Two Oceans Ultra Marathon. Dit was n fantastiese gevoel toe ek my eerste Two Oceans suksesvol voltooi het in n tyd van 5uur 45min.

Tot my teleurstelling maar nogsteed baie trots het ek n 9uur 27min gedoen by Comrades af en my Back to Back medalje verower.

Danie 1

Danie 2

2015 – Oceans 4uur 24min en Comrades 8uur 08min.

2016 – Word my Spesiale jaar om saam Morne, Cliffie en Chris hulle deur te vat vir n Sainsbury by Oceans en al my focus op Comrades te sit. Daar was so n spesiale oomblik om die passie en geluk in hulle oe te sien.

danie 3

My Comrades bly een van my beste oomblike toe ek die jaar in 7uur 25min klaar gemaak het vir my silver medalje.

danie 4

Ek wil dankie se vir almal vir hulle ondersteuning en veral my vriende en my pragtige vrou Maritsa. Julle is almal baie spesiaal!

SONDER JULLE SOU DIT ONTMOONTLIK GEWEES HET.

Hardloop het my lewe Verander!
