ROAD RUNNING NEWSLETTER – OCTOBER 2016

Spring is in the air…

What an exciting month September has been! With spring in the air and summer on the way, we can now look ahead to an exciting few months ahead… What is great to see are the amount of runners that have come out of the “woodwork” and have hit the roads with purpose. October to December promises to be huge in terms of road running and I know that you are just as excited as I am about what lies ahead. We have to be mindful of working hard to achieve our goals, but that said, REST AND RECOVERY are not words that should be taken lightly! Best wishes for the month ahead. I sincerely hope it will be memorable.

Looking back to September…

Our race of the month was the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon 42.2km. It was an amazing start to the day, weather was perfect and was expected to peak in the high 20’s. In true CTM style the marathon got underway at 07:00, a bit late for most marathoners, nevertheless the buzz of runners and hunger of the “first timers” made for an electric atmosphere and a promise for a great race!

CMC members were welcomed to the club’s gazebo for a well-deserved refreshment, thanks to JP Roux, our host. Thanks JP for being the perfect host, much appreciated!
