ROAD RUNNING NEWSLETTER – APRIL 2017

And just like that summer is gone!

With the sun setting earlier and rising later in the mor     nings, temperatures dropping we quickly realised that summer is a thing of the past.

With the change of seasons in nature comes a change of season for Cape Multisport Club with a new committee. Charl Smit will steer the CMC bus. Welcome to Magda Marshall heading up Trail Running and Julia Le Roux taking over the Tri spot.

As a team, we will endeavour to bring your new and fresh ideas.

On the Road Running front I urge our members to be safe out there. Wear reflective clothing, make sure you have a headlamp in the dark and do not run alone!

Looking back at March

road2

March is normally the month of mileage. So, with that being said we had members taking part in the Leapfrog half & 10km, Ravensmead 10, Tygerrun Half, Tygerberg 30km and even as far as the Knysna Marathon & half. I have posted all the results on Facebook as I have received them.

I have also created a folder on Google Drive where all results are stored.

You can view this here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B1Yjl7gykMTtcTI1SnEtN2FnR3c?usp=sharing

Again I would like to highlight some phenomenal performances:

  • Danie Bruwer and Twane Wessels our 1st male and female runners in at the Tygerberg 30km
  • Jaco Pretorius and Annalita Goosen at Leapfrog Half
  • Mario Wooding and Suzanne van Wyk at the Ravensmead 15km

To all our members, thank you for representing the Red

Army at all these events!

April is Two Oceans Month!road3

Blood, sweat and tears all leads up to the Two Oceans Marathon. Whether you take part in the Trail runs on Friday, the Half marathon or the Ultra Marathon on Saturday, My wish is that each and every CMC member participating next year will enjoy every moment of the event.

For those not competing this year, please come and support your fellow members on route or at the Gazebo.

For the 1st time ever we will have 2 Gazebos up at the finish! Thank you to Yolandi, Belinda, Ruth and Colin hosting the Gazebo for us.

Please come and share your experience with us at the Gazebo and get a well-deserved Steri!

After Two Oceans the Telkom 10km Challenge is something to get rid of all the lactic acid in the legs.

On the 27th (Public Holiday) Nantes is hosting another 10km and the month ends with the Voet of The Wine Route 10km.

Remember we are all brand ambassadors of Cape Multisport Club.

So make us Proud!

Training

Fetching Rule:

We have instituted a fetching rule at our Saturday and Sunday Pack runs.

This means that the slower runners will never be left behind. The front runners will turn around and run back to the last runner of the pack and then go out again.

We ask ALL members to adhere to this rule.

Reason:road4

1.       Safety of all runners

2.       Camaraderie

3.       We are ultimately a social club
