Looking ahead…

Hard to believe 7 months have passed… Winter has been harsh, but in one month we can expect warmer weather and that means more regular training. It’s been so amazing to see the commitment of our runners, braving the cold, wet mornings and sticking to their programs… it’s truly inspirational!

So the month of July has been reasonably quiet on the road-racing scene   Perhaps we can blame the weather or perhaps it was just a time to take a break…Months leading up to July have been fairly hectic, especially for the ultra marathon runners who are slowly but surely getting back into the swing of things. So with all the recovery behind us now, we can look forward to the next few months with renewed energy, a positive spirit and a motto of running happiness…

So what has happened in July?

Our race of the month, The Fairbridge Mall 15km classic looked very bleak, due to the inclement weather but our members stood their ground and despite heavy rains and cold conditions, they came out in their numbers.

We were welcomed by super hosts in CONRAD KOORTS and JP ROUX, who had prepared warm coffee and cheese muffins upon arrival at the gazebo!

Many thanks Conrad AND JP for hosting us!!

The “Newbie Run”

We were very excited to be hosting the “Newbie Run” on the 30 July, because it was an opportunity to meet our new members.

The idea was to have a “social” run with the new members and enjoy a nice informal breakfast roll after the run.

What a great morning it was...

A special word of thanks to this “newbie” WIKUS PRETORIUS (seen below), for travelling all the way from Hermanus to join us… Fantastic!

What lies ahead in August…

Our race of the month in August is the Brackenfell Pick ‘n Pay 21km road race on the 06 August 2016. We are looking forward to joining Ruth Masureik, our host, for an epic day out…

Some food for thought…

“I succeed only on my personal motivation, dedication and commitment. My mindset is: If I’m not out there training, someone else is…”
